    Loyal Tour of Dublin

I came across the Dublin and Wicklow Loyal Orange Lodge Facebook page and noticed that someone is offering a Loyal Tour of Dublin, which, from what I can tell, offers a perspective on the city from that of a Unionist. I'm definitely going to do that tour when I get a chance. Has anyone been on this?

It looks like a real business to me, unlike the DUP website www.dup.ie.

I would guess more along the line of telling the history of Dublin from that perspective, but I don't know any more than is on their website.

No. As in, there is a very strong tradition of unionism on the island of Ireland, with many historic Dublin people, places and general links to "loyalism". The tour shows you this side of our history. I am saying "our history" deliberately, since, although I am an "ethnic Catholic nationalist" that loyalist / orange element of this country is part of my country's history and I would like to know about it. The site explains that they go to Trinity, Dublin Castle, the House of Lords etc. They have pictures of the War Memorial Gardens on the site and they also talk about the first Orange Lodge meeting in Dublin in the 1790s. Many of the most ardent Nationalists I know are very interested in that sort of history even though they are from the completely opposite tradition. It's pretty intriguing. Just look at the RDS, for example. Probably a lot of interesting history to that Irish name, place and society.

And the Royal College of Surgeons, Royal College of Physicians, Royal Irish Academy, and so on. I heard that they still toast Queen Elizabeth I every night in Trinity (is that true?)
