The comical bumblings of Ivor Callely

Having lived in North Central for over 2 years, I thought I had built up a resistance to Ivor's endless stream of bizarre and comical leaflets. But not to be outdone, Ivor has kept the good stuff for the election proper.

I've gotten 3 almost identical newsletters from Ivor since the election started........all containing almost nothing but photographs. The most recent one - which arrived yesterday - contains a number of bizarre claims.

Ivor says that when he was Junior Minister for Transport, he was responsible for:
    - The opening of the DART Station on Clontarf road (which was actually a decision of the Rainbow Government, opened by Alan Dukes in 1997)
    - The delivery of Metro North to the area (construction hasn't even started yet)
    - The introduction of the HGV/5-axle ban (which was a decision of the FG/Lab/Green controlled City Council)
    - He describes the new public lighting on Clontarf Promenade as "his initiative" (it was actually an initiative of the FG/Lab/Green controlled City Council)

About a month ago, locals were treated to what was probably the 2 most bizarre pieces of election literature ever.
    1) A 4-pager, with pictures of penguins and polar bears, and bits about recycling, energy saving, water conservation, etc.
I took it to the pub that night to show a friend of mine.....with the Ivor Callely photo taken off.......and you don't have to guess which party he presumed it was from.
    2) A "Seniors" magazine - which seemed to have been produced totally by Ivor, obviously at ENORMOUS expense, with a big photo of him on the front page.

Also - you'll notice that Ivor has recycled his billboards from the last Election - where he's looking remarkably young.

"Callely - Man of the Future" (or something to that effect). Highly ironic, coming from a disgraced Has-Been ex-Minister.

To top it all off, on some of the billboards, he hasn't even bothered to paint over the microscopic reference to Deirdre Heney (his running mate the last time) - which can't be seen unless you're standing directly underneath it, let alone driving past.

I could go on all night about a litany of crazy stuff he has said or done (including his leaflet from about 2 years ago telling us that the Port Tunnel would open in September 2005 !!!)

But I was certainly cheered up by a little old lady I met last weekend, who told me she was switching from FF to Richard Bruton...........because she was tired of getting ridiculous leaflets from Callely!

As you can see in the link below, Ivor has people who want us to vote for him but aren't interested in living with him as their TD.

Dan Sullivan. I was back but we still couldn't all have a vote.

Can I ask my question again that I asked on another thread:

What did Callely do that was so much worse than stuff Ahern did, that he had to lose his job over it?

He got his house painted for free. Did the painter get any benefits or favours in return?

Is Callely really going to be elected?

    Got caught.

Anyway, I have a few euro on Ivor to get back into Dail and I have every faith in his brass neck to upset the odds and take Sean Haughey's seat.

As for the leaflets from Ivor, you have seen nothing from him yet!!!!

The next week will be very lively    in North Central

Oh I can't wait for him to call to my door. If he says he has done a lot for the constituency, i'll ask him why didn't he pay for my house to be painted, considering i paid for his. Or maybe say, if he buys me a car, i'll vote for him. If it's good enough for a civil servants loyalty, then it's good enough for mine. I've also noticed the man can't smile.

To be honest, i'd much rather mr haughey got in, than that gob************************e.
