Fine Gael in the running for two seats in Dun Laoghaire

Got details of a new poll taken in Dun Laoghaire last week which shows Fine Gael in the running for two seats. Not surprisingly Hanafin and Cuffe are leading the charge with 22.1% and 17.2% respectively but the blues making a real impact.

    ANDREWS (FF) 12.1%
    BAILEY (FG) 10.1%
    BARRETT (FG) 7.1%
    BOYD BARRETT (IND) 4.2%
    CUFFE (GP) 17.2%
    GILMORE (LAB) 11.1%
    HANAFIN (FF) 22.1%
    O BRION (SF) 3.2%
    QUINN (LAB) 2.7%
    O'MALLEY (PD) 6.2%
    REGAN (FG) 4.0%

If this result were repeated on polling day Hanafin, Cuffe, Gilmore and Bailey would take the first four seats with Andrews and Barrett fighting for the remaining seat.

IF this poll result is true, then it shows one exceptional fact. FOM of the hard right PD's with a literally unlimited budget is almost matched by a hard left candidate (RBB) with no budget whatsoever! Maybe this election cannot be bought!

If I had to pick one PD to lose it would be FOM - she is easily the smugest TD of the lot. Smugness not backed up with any ability.

Even if I believed any 'polls' posted here, I don't get the two seats for FG. The three of them together only have the same votes as Hanafin, presumably a large chunk of her surplus, which would be the first distributed, would go to Andrews, putting him closer to the 16.6% quota than any FGer.

From these figures it would seem like 2 FF, 1 FG, 1 Lab, 1 GP.

Ive been canvassing in Dun Laoghaire for the past few months. Id def have to agree wit the Hanafin and Cuffe results. While Im disapointed that Andrews is so low, I do think he will pull it back closer to the day of the election. However, if a ************************ load of transfers from Hanafin dont come his way, he will be in serious trouble

Gilmore should be higher up than 11%.

How in sweet bejesus do you get the possibility of 2 seats with this poll for FG. They are on 21% not anywhere near the level they need to be in with a shout of getting two. The really amazing thing is how low FOM is. If this is right she's definitly gone.

FFS this is suppose to be Cosgrave country, the heart of Fine Gael. We should be guarranteed at least 2seats here all the time. Losing all seats here in 2002 really was a disgrace...
