Council to discuss use of glamour models

    http://www.rte.ie/news/2007/0418/models.html
PR company defends use of glamour models -whats the name of the company that does this?

Cllr Bronwen Maher's motion will be put to councillors in the coming weeks.

the council are going to discuss the banning of use of glamour models to launch initiatives in the future, I think this is great I was so fed up at seeing stupid old male polticians grinning beside models standing beside bananl objects.. It makes everyone look so stupid the models the politicians and the citizens who supposed to use these initiatives?

I was going to go to begorrah blog to see what they say on it but I never figure how to spell that blogs name?

I agree. It's a ridiculous thing to spend public money on.

I'm not as bothered if it's some sort of advertising campaign ala stop drinking driving or wear condoms or the likes in the context of getting out very important messages. On these issues, normal and traditional advertising methods are fine.

But if it's just in the context of every day openings and initiate launches, it's very undesirable for quite a few reasons:

    - It's a waste of money.

    - It further reinforces a message that women should be judged on their looks, in the context of a society which already places way too much emphasis on this to the extent anoxeria, bulemia, countless forms of depression are widespread.

    - When you see all these old male politicians along side young pretty models, it sends out a message which reinfornces negative and undesirable stereotypes and role models - men with all the power, women as an asthethic appendage.

    - Why on earth should anyone (whatever their gender) be associated with major project launches unless they had something to do with their success? It's bad enough to have politicians attaching their names to these things without throwing in models to boot. What sort of message does this send out to our kids..... work hard and someday you too can be omitted from photographs cos you don't look pretty enough.

    - It tends to be very sexist with no gender balance amongst the models.

    - Old men and young busomed-models make for a very seedy looking image. It just looks very dodgy, and portrays politics in a bad light.

The state, and politicians should have a much wider range of goals, and hold themselves to much higher standards than a typical company trying to flog products.

What bothers me is being used by glamour models.

I'm not just a piece of meat you know.

I'm sure Glenda and her co-workers will not take to kindly to being labeled "glamour" models which is considered the downmarket side of the modeling business. Glamour models are actually "Page Three" girls who do topless and soft porn modeling along the lines of Jordan and Jodie Marsh.
Cllr. Mahon should be more careful in her choice of description for these girls, glamorous as opposed to glamour models would be a much more acceptable epithet.
    Average expenses per TD in 2011:- FG €36,412, Lab €28,756, FF €45,219, SF €44,413, SP €23,654, PBP €31,866, WUAG €49,911, IND €37,805, CC €13,112.

Great idea. Wouldn't it be great to see Jordan standing beside Bertie the nest time he opens an off-licence.

she did rework the glamour phrasing on this...

joe has go at her but she explains she want to atleast use 'real people' models not galmourous models at every single launch. and further using the actual people involed rather then models.

I think the characterisation of the pr agenices as lazy is the true, their lowest common denominator, cheap the newspaper/photograhers as lecherous hacks.
