Are FF only running 2 in Dublin South Central

Are FF only running 2 candidates in Dublin South Central, Ardagh and Mulcahy...they ran three the last time out or are they happy to run and hold the two?

Seems to be 2's of every party. 2 FG. 2 FF. 2 Labour. 2 PDs. 2 Workers Party.....etc

Curiously the one party NOT running two candidates in DSC is Sinn Fein - They could have over a quota here, but have no one to avail of it? Is O'Snodaigh nervous or anxious about having a running mate, in case they might get ideas above their station??

We hope to have Aengus get in on the first count and a quota is what we may just have (depending on turnout) so why the hell would we run 2 like FG and split the vote and possibly lose the seat. Maths my friend 2 candidates do not add up.

One point to note relates to how this candidate selection will play out geographically: in Labour not selecting Michael Conaghan and FF only running two this time (leaving out former Ballyfermot councillor, Marian McGennis), Aengus O'Snodaigh and Brid Smith should effectively have all of Ballyfermot to play for to mop up the local vote. I think AOS, especially on this basis, would be disappointed if he did not top the poll this time out with over a quota, especially as he should get votes elsewhere. As in 2002, none of the parties are running a South West Inner City based candidate - closest being Catherine Byrne who represents the South West Inner City local eleciton constituency, but hails from the Kilmainham/Inchicore end of that constituency.

Spot on AP, I think Aengus will hover up 50% of Ballyer and with the reaction on the door in Drimnagh positive so far and Crumlin, well it's Crumlin i am very confident indeed.

what ever about topping the poll, is there any real value to it other than estetics. aengus team should be content with increaseing the presentage share of the SF vote in the constituancy on the last local elections. and working from that information

Maths has nothing to do with it, it's lack of courage on SF local org to run another candidate. If SF are going to top the poll as some believe it would be a great chance for to build a profile for a second SF seat in future Elections. I believe Aengus is worried about getting elected never mind topping the poll.
If SF really believed they were capable of getting over the quota they would put in a second candidate.[/quote:81n3lq8x]

I stated why we are not running 2 candidates already, if you do not believe me well tough. FG are playing this game running 2 and possibly losing theiur seat so why the hell would we run 2?
