PDs say NO to Giant Sewage Plant in Portrane.

    LARGE SCALE SEWERAGE FOR
    PORTRANE ? NO THANKS
Following representation the Progressive Democrats have become the first political party to include in their manifesto their opposition to large scale water treatment plants. The proposed plant for North Dublin is expected to treat sewerage from 5 other counties and senator Tom Morrissey has outlined his complete opposition to such a large scale plant. There is no way that 14 miles of piped sewerage from 7 counties including Wicklow, Kildare & Meath can be pumped for treatment in Donabate. We need more local treatment plants that operate on a smaller scale. The Progressive Democrats will officially adopt this policy in their manisfeto next week, along the following lines; The Progressive Democrats will deliver incremental capacity as required in critical areas of drinking and waste water treatment rather than postponing improvements until larger-scale projects can be delivered.
Senator Tom Morrissey addressed the Public Meeting held in Donabate Community center on Wednesday 14th March 2007. A large audience of over 350 people turned out to the public meeting.

    PDs

Your signature quotation says "boldness has genius" - well if it has the PDs have Brass-Neck Effrontery given that they've been behind the incinerators and sewage plants being foisted on communities around the country.

The NO THANKS thing is now officially over used in the PD camp. Who cares what the PDs think anymore?

Sort out Health and Justice and stop trying to act like you guys haven't been in government for most of your existence.

Have the PDs said anything about their Government's refusal to investigate the ongoing malfunction of the Ringsend Wastewater Treatment Plant?

Why aren't the PDs pushing their Dublin Bay plan?

Councillors from all parties have been "onto it" to a greater or lesser extent for the past four years, but none of them have the expertise or the resources to properly investigate this monumental cock-up. This is a case of serious incompetence on the part of the City Management, you'd think the Department of the Environment might take an interest in such things.

I agree but again the city council management cant perform without the cllrs/governing partys support. I m hearing a lot of blame form FG/Labour/Green people about issues that their own councillors could help to fix.

Hold on a second, the cllrs have to take their fare share of the blame for this. Surely the Labour/FG coalition on the council could make an allowance in the budget for an independent consultant to come in and study the plant, rather than playing the blame game.

Some people prefer the politics of opposition.
