well if JCD end up dredgin' the Liffey for em they'll end up finding a few hundred in there which could be given out for free....

Readin those conditions you alluded to - apparently the "anti-theft device" is a "lock" as it has a "key". Why didn't they just call it a lock? Better be a good one though
We need to radically change every system that has enabled the wholesale destruction of the Irish landscape, rural and urban. There is no time for incremental step by step measures. The systems have failed utterly and the only hope for a real recovery requires the rule book to be torn up completely.

There won't be one of them left by christmas. They'll all be in the canal.

We don't do "public" spirited things like this in Ireland.

Well maybe we should start!! I guess public spirited things offend your right-wing, individualistic sensibilities!!

    We'll see. If it's a miserable failure it's a miserable failure

Utter nonsense. It's not right-wing individualistic people like me who will steal the things and chuck them in the canal.

don't think it's lefty socialists either tbh

You have to admit every single bloody initiative is derided in Ireland before it happens and when it;s a success these people disappear - even in transport alone - HGV ban, Luas, College Green bus gate, O Connell St upgrade, every attempt to ban any right turn anywhere.

So forgive me for dismissing your assertion with a simple "meh"

Isn't it? I'd say you'd have to be fairly focused on your own individual wants and needs to steal a bike. The kind of people who steal public bikes and throw them away are people who have no sense of community pride and spirit. I can see how a positive scheme like, this designed to foster sharing, would offend right-wing individualists. I hope like-minded anti-society people don't decide to ruin the scheme by stealing the bikes and throwing them away. I see you and others are almost willing that to happen though.

What are you on? The scheme doesn't offend me, nowhere have I indicated that it has. You can take your preformed opinions of me and shove then where ever you wish.

I work a lot in Copenhagen and I have a bike there. The bicycle culture is fantastic, just wait and see, it will catch on big-time!!.. It's a small bit of posivity in a very negative time.
