Leading polling firm conducts Donegal South West byelection poll, results later today

Politics.ie understands that a leading polling firm conducted research in Donegal South West over the weekend for a major client, and is tabulating the final figures at the moment.

The survey is expected to be published this afternoon - and once they're in the wild, they'll be here on Politics.ie

Hopefully the maFFia will be near the bottom... But I doubt it.

Will be very interesting to see how "national anger" will transfer into a staunch FF area when crunch time is upon them. Could be an eye opener for the rest of us as to the amount of work needed to actually remove FF.

In a constituency as big and diverse as Donegal SW, I don't know how useful a poll will be, unless it has a very large sample size.

I would also reckon that with a collapse of normal voting patterns, a lot of folks will be making up their minds on the day, or even in the polling booth.

Pity the poll isn't conducted this weekend given everything thats happened since Sunday. But it'll be interesting to see if FF has dropped enough to actually lose the by election.

Don't forget this is a constituency desensitised to mass-unemployment because in those parts, it has always been thus. And the parish pump remains a potent weapon in rural Ireland.

very true, and a constituency so faithful to FF that they have never received anything from FF governments over the years - no need to as they are always faithful - semper fidelis. So they don't expect a lot and they couldn't care less about the rest of the country. So, it could be FF alright.

So let's have a predictions competition between now and the actual poll numbers being announced?
Dan Sullivan. I was back but we still couldn't all have a vote.

I think it will underestimate the FF vote because of the "shy-Tory" factor:

    FF 28%
    SF 28%
    FG 24%
    Labour 15%
    Ind 5%
