The Green Party looks set to field candidates in every constituency in the north west for the first time in the history of the party. And there's a good chance we'll get one or two of them elected!

Andrew I have to agree with you on this one, there could be a huge green tide this time around especially with people who are unsure with Enda, could vote Green to ensure there is an alternative to FF/PD, so it could be FF/Grn, gut feeling is saying that greens could come back in Double digits numbers this time around
Why can't all posts on p.ie be like that!Originally Posted by jayblue
I've rated their chances as follows:
Galway West
Clare
Sligo/North Leitrim
Roscommon/South Leitrim
Donegal NorthEast
Galway East
Donegal SouthWest
Mayo
I would put Donegal North East higher up the list than that.
I suppose they are all outside chances except Galway West and Clare.
But speaking to Frank Gallagher, he is getting surprising reactions at the doorsteps. Very positive. He seems to be doing better than SF in Letterkenny. Anyone local I've canvassed, the response has been nothing but positive.
He will certainly beat Labour, and if he can coast on the transfers of a handful of independents, and if he can get ahead of Jimmy Harte, and if SF don't make it, then who knows.
If there is a future, it will be Green.
The Greens have no chance in Galway East and not because of the Green Party but because the candidate is such an unknown, why it has been left so late i dont know.
I would be backing the Greens to take a seat in Galway West, hopefully not at our expense but which could well happen
Don't worry. It will be at Grealish's expense. A chicken is on it's way home to roost. :wink:Originally Posted by alltheway

There a bit like termites. They're hard to dislodge in Galway West.
If they lose Galway West, not only are they having a bad election, they are facing extinction in the short-to-medium term
Any word on a candidate in Sligo-North Leitrim?
Will be announced within the next 10/14 days I think.Originally Posted by Gombeen
The Green party will not have much success in this region as Sinn Féin tends to be strong and captures that section of the elctorate anyway, given that Sinn Féin are very strong on left wing/pro-environment policies.Originally Posted by AndrewM
