Donegal FF grassroots call for 3 candidates in DNE

According to Highland Radio news this morning, FF grassroots at a meeting last night, have called on FF HQ to allow 3 candidates to run in DNE at next years general election.

How can they get out of this one. This is a disaster for them and Blaney.

McDaid has the democratic backing of his own members.

Good news for everyone else, if they run 3 they might only get 1 seat.

Sounds like a really well balanced ticket to me. The Drunk, The Carpet Bagger and the Token Woman. Yep all the bases covered there. Really representative of the DNE electorate.

Rover-What makes you think McHugh is doing well, that's not what I'm hearing?

A disaster for who? What do you mean THEM and Blaney? Aren't these people all in the same party?

The only person this is a disaster for is Blaney. He has now said that if he knew at the time that McDaid wasn't quitting he would never have joined FF. The guy is such a lightweight its inconceiveable that he could have a shred of integrity left.
As for Rovers assesment that Keaveny will never be a minister - why not? She is currently chair of a Dail committee, she could well top the poll in the constituency next itme out, McDaid is un-papable as is Blaney, and if FF can defend their 2 seats against a resurgent FG and SF the least the local organisation will be looking for is a Junior. McDaid drank himself out of the job before and there's no chance of FF having 2 ministers again in DSE, so why shouldn't Keaveny have a reasonable expectation of promotion? Anyone living in the constituency knows she is far from a 'token'.

That meeting could hardly be described as representative of the constituency organisation as a whole, nonetheless the members have a right to be heard and will get that opportunity after the merger with IFF is complete. In the mean time, McDaid, Blaney and Keaveney are getting lots of press…sounds like a win-win situation all round.

TK, is blaney a fully paid up member of the party and have his members joined? It sounds on other threads like the merger has not gone through yet.
Dan Sullivan. I was back but we still couldn't all have a vote.

Blaney is a full member of the Fianna Fáil Organisation and the Fianna Fáil Parliamentary Party, he has the same rights as every other member.

The merger plans are proceeding as planned, there are due to be more Cumann AGM’s held this Thursday with another batch next week, there will then be follow on meetings at LEA and Constituency level later in December. People are going to have to accept the situation has moved on and that the former IFF members are now part of the organisation.
