Field Marshall Penrose reprting for duty, SIR

Wille Penrose TD is playing the old two side trick again criticising the army for closing Mullingar Barracks.. If he disagrees with a Government policy why doesn't he resign ?

If you were watching TWIP on RTÉ 1 on Sunday night Supreme Admiral Varadkar has Penrose in his sights-he'll take a stripe off him!

    Time to resign Willy.

How much Artillery does the Irish Army have?

Is it just 18 105mm guns?

    This is what they need

    Shoot and Scoot

Penrose is right. The army has is facing death by a thousand cuts. FFS, there is even the possibility of Cavan barracks being closed, and with the threat of dissidents increasing, this will leave a gaping security hole in the South Ulster area.

What use is Artillery against subversives?

The 105's are obsolete for use against a modern well equipped army.

Contingencies my dear fellow. Did the scouts not teach you to be prepared?

So a Battery of Artillery, about 200 troops have a whole barracks for themselves. Time to get real.

Parish pump politics. Far more important than actual security issues.

The OP was going after the
    parish-pumpery of Penrose
    by blaming the Army, when
    it's clearly a decision made
    by his own administration.

Mind you, if you need to
    show evidence of austerity,
    this is a headline grabber.
