    Marrage partners not government should define the terms and spiritual arrangments of their union.

    This is to be welcomed I hope Ireland startes going in the right direction.

    Sorry but you need a password and to be a member for that link to work. Never the less, of course NZ was going to ratify civil unions. There is nothing wrong with that, and I believe that the whole world will eventually get around to it, what ever guise it takes. However gay marrage is a whole different game. The real story is whats happening in Spain if you don't mind me saying. That and VZ has always been 100 years to the zany side of progressive, than most other nations.

    I presume the story is something along the lines of what a different online paper wrote:

    The first couples have applied to have their relationships recognised by a civil union after a change in the law came into effect today.

    The Civil Unions Bill allows same-sex and heterosexual couples legal standing on a par with marriage.

    Irish Civil Partnership Bill

    Has anybody heard of any news on Senator David Norris' proposed Civil Partnership Bill/ An Bille um PáirtÍocht Shibhialta ?

    I know it was rejected in the Seanad

    Ach Cén fáth ? 8)

    And what now ?
