A positive drug story there imo. less poisonous crap to be flogged. the problem in this country is we have the most ignorant sellers and the worst educated buyers in europe(happily the buyers seem despite our craven politicians to be wising up).
I read an interview with a dublin dealer in the 'soft secrets' mag and he argued constantly with the interviewer that his weed was not contaminated despite this guy patiently explaining to him how he could tell that his herb was full of sand/silica. this ignoramus was not for telling. his stuff was bleedin deadly(true ironically)
I asked a dutch dealer one time why we Irish get this muck and his reply was 'because you ask for it'. it's cheap and it can be sold for a larger profit than decent hash or weed.
combined with ignorance of their product the unscrupulous nature of many of the dealers here is a major problem. this situation exposes the lie that prohibition is for the good of our health.
I do however hold out hope that the supply situation will improve due in the main to the information that people on fora such as this are sharing with each other which may lead to a cottage industry of decent suppliers whose motivation is to sell a decent safe product for a reasonable profit which is well possible. I am not so optimistic about a change in attitude of the powers that be but since when have they ever had the interests of the citizen at heart.

Try having smoked it for a couple of years when you were young. You would be even MORE pissed off about it...

One person commented on passing the Café's that a beautiful aroma came from them because of the herb used in the mixture. Café culture is still on the cards!

Personally I think a two tier approach is a mistake, double the time, legislation etc. Better to have it legalised in one go. The pharmacy's have enough, A Café distribution would create new places for tourists, and much needed jobs as well. It would have to be licensed and to reputable people.

You do make a good point though about supply lines, I am not sure of the answer to that and I agree about the existing ones being vague and underground. I will look into how the Netherlands and Portugal are dealing with this aspect of it and get back to you.
It could easily be grown on a large scale in greenhouses...

For personal use, can be grown outside/in a small wardrobe.

We shouldn't need to source any from outside if properly organised.

So how much worth of cannabis was caught in the past month in Ireland?

10,000,000 EUROS WORTH.

Dont forget the amount of money used to employ the corrupt garda scum who caught these people bringing the weed in.

Dont forget the amount of money already gone out of the country to another criminal gang in another country.

Dont forget the social damage that higher weed prices will cost.

Dont forget that this 10,000,000 is only a little itty bit of the cannabis imports to Ireland by criminal gangs. There is still plenty of it about.

Dont forget Ireland is BROKE.

Legalise & Tax weed.

Divert Garda to real crime. Keep the money in our country instead of paying criminals in other countries propping up their exporting business and the criminals in Ireland importing business.

FFS, 10 million within a month and the country is still full off weed. Hello???

Cork isn't

Maybe some of it will slowly make its way down? I reckon it all gets caught on its way to Cork myself...

That 10 million euro is the Gardai estimate of street value, calculated using their own unique voodoo economic equation which permits them to elide over how much actual WEIGHT of substance or PURITY of same they actually seized.
Which in turn means that they can dip it for the Xmas party in Harrington St or personal use as they wish.
It's time to demand that the Gardai report weight and purity levels for all seizures in Ireland by law.

damn right on the 'hand rolled cigarette' nonsense. lets just hear the weight of course they don't look as good if the tell the truth. these muppets still reckon an E is €10 FFS, they are clueless on purity too i would say, well officially anyway, A mate of mine is a cop and he has told me that some of his colleagues regularly raid the stash for the weekend and it isn't just soft drugs either. the height of hypocrisy.

Another question: how many random drug tests were performed on Gardai in the past 12 months?
