Society can't cope with the effects of the only 2 drugs we try to regulate, alcohol and cigarettes, what evidence is there that we can cope with a 3rd legal drug?
Money spent to convict that scumbag was money well spent these people import what’s called formula made in North Africa out of all sorts of ******************** anyone dealing in that needs to be jailed along with those who continue to support their market.

I recall a few years back when the moral majority got in a snit about liberalisation of licensing laws in the UK where pub owners themselves could decide what hours to stay open until.

There were dire warnings of rivers of blood in the streets and nationwide carnage. I went out that night in London at about ten pm and had a pint up to about 11.45 and went home.

In the papers next day the usual crew of 'Who Will Think Of The Children' wailers were saying things in the paper like 'Well, the reason the country didn't go up in flames was because the weather was a bit cold and all the thugs stayed home.'

Aye. Sounded like they were absolutely gutted that their dire forecasts proved groundless.

All those beered up shaven skinheads etc, etc. Who'd have thought a chilly evening would have defeated them?

I agree completely with the op, but slightly off topic does any party support legalisation?

Many lives and families have been badly effected by Cannabis abuse.
As many as those affected by alcohol abuse?

I don't thinks so. FG are too tight arsed, Labour want to be seen as responsible, Sinn Fein would lose business, the Greens hate people enjoying themselves and Fianna Fail think everything is more fun when it's illegal.

Don't believe in criminalising people for posessing small amounts of weed, but I've heard all the arguments for legalising it, and they don't convince me. So, no sympathy for these boyos caught today.

Do you feel sympathy for every single piece of drug dealing filth in this country or is it just because he's an accountant? This man was caught while trying to make a quick bit of cash. He isn’t someone on a moral mission.

Yes exactly. He is just the same as every other business person, trying to make the most they can from their product. So why are you calling him filth?

In fact, a lot of weed dealers are actually MORE decent than the average business person in my opinion.

You are listening to propoganda and vested corporate interests.

Search google video for 'history of marijuana'

It is narrated by Woody Harrilson. This will wake you up a wee bit, honestly.

I dont know why its banned in the Western world. Did the alcohol companies petition for its removal or what? Did it just get unlucky when the Legal; There is no proven long-term Cannabis damage detected beyond what could be associated with smoking. Most cannabis users report a relaxing sensation when using. Compare with the oul Drink.

You should read "Cannabis" by Martin Booth. Explained exactly how it's prohibition came about - mainly to do with opposition from cotton farmers and oil companies in the U.S. (worried about hemp taking their markets as a cheaper more sustainable subsitute, esp when a method for creating hemp-plastic was discovered). The U.S. banned it and forced the single drugs convention on the rest of the world. It was basically blackmail.
