    Water Charges Demonstration

Anyone know of any demos against water charges? This is something I feel very strongly about.

The "Commission on Taxation" are going to report in the next two weeks and water charges is one of the main stop-gaps for Local Authority funding - Local Authorities that are full of useless political cronies who got their permanent jobs under dubious circumstances.

The private vultures are waiting in the background waiting to pounce with their water meters and monthly invoices. It's been brewing for years and the local authorities now have the perfect excuse to drive their corrupt plans through.

They cannot implement this. The taxpayer is taxed to the hilt as it is.

They also want a carbon tax on energy!!

We should change our greeting to be "Welcome to Ireland, where a hundred thousand taxes await you"

If they whack us with water charges, child benefit tax, cut in the dole, carbon tax, etc. there'll be no spending in the economy whatsoever.

    VAT receipts will plummet.

Damn right they are. When refuse was privatised the rip off merchants had a field day. I can't see people being cowed into accepting water charges.

If you want to stop water charges you'll need a completely different kind of government.

they can and they will, there is a general consensus that they cannot be any more income taxes (bar intergrating the levies into the main bands) as it would be seen as a disincentive to work and also potentially cause wage inflation something we also cannot afford, therefore they need to raise other revenue streams as well as cutting. there is simply no other choices, sucks but thats the mess we are in

Yeah, continue to attack the living standards of normal families, while throwing our money at private industries. Tbh there's nothing sensible about Ireland politically right about now.
