Irish People's Union: Who Are They?

Anyone have any info on this crowd: The Irish People's Union?

Seemingly they're organising a massive rally in Dublin on September 16th, but who are these people and what are their affiliations? How did they start and what are the group's long-term objectives?

There's not enough information on their website and I'd be suspicious to get involved until I knew the names and backgrounds of the group leaders.

Their site is littered with spelling and grammar mistakes.

Very unprofessional for what is a serious issue!
The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money.

I heard a snippet with a lad on newstalk. I would expect some kind of link to the SWP/SP/PbP or SF/IRA as they only political group he singled out as definitely not being attached to was socialists.

In fact when stressing he wasn't political he didn't mention mainstream centrism which contains 2 parties (FG & Lab) against NAMA but not against doing something.

The very idea of "ordinary people" and "a peoples movement" has more than a vague whiff of 1917-1989 about it.

I wouldn't be so quick to criticise their valiant efforts. I'd constructively suggest they improve their layout, design, user-friendlyness and visual/text communication.

A "call to arms" youtube video would do the world of good -- there are plenty of unemployed artistic types out there who I imagine, would be only too willing to lend a hand.

Can you give an example of the type of people you wouldn't like to get involved with? AFAIK (or care) they are a group of unaffiliated concerned citizens opposing NAMA - their Facebook group has nearly 4000 members, not bad going imo.

They have set a date for a public demo - the 12th September by the way. If anyone out there opposes NAMA and is free to come to Dublin city centre that afternoon I'm of the opinion they have a duty to participate!
I have opinions of my own - strong opinions - but I don't always agree with them. - George Bush
