Senior Civil and public servants have had their last Christmas under FF. What a decade it has been!-Bumper salaries, no pay cuts (unlike their staff), tax-free retirement lump sums, bumper pensions, no accountability or responsibility.
The underperformance and mis-management are well documented at this stage from absence of reform, de-centralisation , no regulation, massive overspend on public projects that resulted in billions going to FF cronies.
With the new government only a few months away it is interesting to wonder if this group will get away with the excuse that they were just following instructions from their political masters in FF.
Can we expect there to be a furious attempt over the next few months to retrieve memos and e-mails showing how individuals tried to oppose much of what went on?

Or is it possible that there could be a lot of unexpected postings to the Prison Service in Cahirsiveen, all in the interests of reform, of course. Or perhaps just a rush of 'retirements'?

The Central Bank is not part of the Civil Service. Of course its independent of Government. What is your point?

A massive problem in this tiny, inbred statelet is the lack of people moving on and vacating posts for younger talent to move up. This is part of why so many people can't afford their mortgages - they are not moving up the ranks of their organisations and are stuck in low paid misery while the fat. balding middle-aged, middle (and upper) income classes sit like hens on eggs on their plum jobs, with their and ever escalating pension costs and holiday "entitlements".

Move over old farts and let the next generation move up!!!

There's a solution to the current problem. Either bring in a shorter working week and take in more (cheaper) staff or force retirement at 55. I'm sure the Frence students were protesting recently at the extension of the CS working age to 62 in France as most of them were able to retire at 55 and make room for the younger one's coming on. Might be inaccurate there. A 55 age limit should certainly have merit and would weed out a lot of the slackers at all grades and take those clockers off their nests.
