That would be because it was cHeal that posted that, not Higgins saying it.

    Likewise, for your mention.

I think that many people get over-sensitive about such things. Unfortunately, too often that "over-sensitivity" is used as a club or gag to silence what isn't wanted to be heard.

Yeah well no one here compared Israel to Nazi Germany and you STILL had a problem!

So does that make us anti Semites?

That’s why I hate writing on these threads. Every time I criticize someone in the Israeli government I am called or it is hinted that I hate all Jews.

Why must I be bullied by these people? If I criticized any the Swiss government it wouldn’t even be hinted at that I hate all Swiss people.

Apparently he has tourettes. Still hilarious I say. I was immediately reminded of the Jewish fellow out of the "Passion of the Jew" South Park episode who says "Stereotyping Jews is teeerrible!". In a voice that would embarrass Woody Allen.

I never said anyone did. You asked for examples of how do identify anti-semitism "hiding behind" criticism of Israel

No, but I make no apology for speaking out against this kind of comment and unfortunately not one of those who put a pro-palestinian viewpoint here saw fit to do so. Instead some people criticised me and others for speaking up against anti-semitism, falsely accusing us of branding all criticism of Israel as anti-semitic.

Unfortunately, people still get their heads kicked in for being Jewish.

I don't think its over-sensitive to give out about stereotyping.

Surely there must be something else to make a joke about?

Jewish people are a mixed bag, just like everyone else.

Well everyone likes a good Jew joke

Nah this thread is about Michael D, debating with the Zionist spokesperson guy, who I personally found hilarious to listen to. I reckon it'd be a bit odd for me to make a joke about the chinese.

Nearly all jokes are at somebodies expense, that's just life, we like to laugh at other cultures and peoples, it's not racism and it's not actually a bad thing. The problem here is that I made a joke about the Jews which suddenly makes me anti-semitic which in turn means I have actually killed 6 million Jews, personally.

Bobert neg-repped me with the comment "racism". When I actually asked him to back up such an accusation he couldn't. Why? Because it wasn't a racist comment, stereotyping perhaps, offensive, yeah probably but it wasn't racist. Neither was it anti-semitic.

The fact of the metter is that the spokesperson for zionism sounded like a Parody of a Jewish Stereotype. He has a terribly nasally (sp?) voice and his nervous twitch thing was just magic, and it's not the first time I've heard Jews who sound this way and appear to embody the old hook nose Jew Stereotype so I was just commenting on that. There is also the fact this guy is a SPOKESPERSON for a Jewish organisation that makes it even better.

I got a few neg reps for this, and I don't mind that people found it disagreeable, that's there thing really, it was meant in a pretty light hearted kind of way, but I do take exception to it being called either racist or anti-semitic. It isn't and the more those words get thrown around the more diluted they become and the less people care about being racist or anti-semitic.

I think you are missing my point. Criticism of the Israeli government in any form does not constitute anti Semitism!

If someone compared the Irish government to the Nazi government that does not mean they are anti Irish! It means they don't like the GOVERNMENT!

And to go even further, if someone said the Irish are parodies of themselves I wouldn't think they hate all Irish either! A lot of Irish ARE parodies of themselves.

Also, what Pro Palestinian viewpoints did you see on this thread?

I have seen lots of pro Michael D. viewpoints but I don't think anyone here is discussing the Palestinian issue.
