Whether union or right wing liberal I think many can agree this is a disgrace. Decent business people and unions leaders should immediately call a halt to this savagery. These are the very private sector workers losing jobs that so many on this site talk of. What are you going to to for them tomorrow morning if they are dragging down to the courts?

This is not some vested interest to be broken, it is real people with no future crying for help.

Ignoring a lawful order of the High Court is not the way to go about it.

    Beyond belief

I know and accept that I give unions a hard time here.
But I want to genuinely state here and now that I am appalled at what is going on here with this dispute. ICTU, LRC, LABOUR COURT AND NIB have not uttered one word about it. Coughlan probably passed by and thought there were cheap holidays for sale.
These People have been left to the mercy of the courts tomorrow morning.
The Electricians went on strike and everyone ran like scalded cats, why?
The injunctions were not adhered to and the TEEU did not pay one cent.
The Labour Court sat while they were on strike Why?
That this is being ignored by those same people that ran around like servants after Electricians that WANTED 11% PAY RISE, it is just beyond belief. An absolute Disgrace in Industrial Relations in this country. Yes, their union is trying. But they need the experience of the Big Players and they are being ignored.
I mix the 2 disputes for a reason, when the other Electrical Contactor Group rejected the TEEU Bullied Deal. The TEEU Owen Wills said that morning that he wanted an investigation immediately, Mary Coughlan agreed within hours.

Some of the Posters have criticised these 45 and maybe you could be right, I support them, but one thing you cannot deny THE UNFAIR TREATMENT OF THEM IN COMPARISON TO THE ELECTRICIANS.

Yes I am afraid it is the only way. I do not break the law as a habit and do not lightly disregard the constitution, but everyone is answerable to their own moral code too. The state is very much in the wrong and against ordinary people. The law is no longer deserving of respect from people.

Thats not an "order to vacate". Thats a different legal instrument entirely. Thomas Cook obtained a temporary injunction against the employees occupying the buildings. If they don't obey the injunction Thomas Cook can make an application to "Attach and Commit" the individuals in breach of the order. That motion will come before the High Court in the morning.

How arent they being treated equal? If I broke into someones home and refused to leave, the Gardaí will come. That is equality.

Have Irish people ever respected the law in this country, we're not exactly the most law abiding people are we?

The company broke an agreement and forced them out early. Personally I would burn the bloody place down if I thought I would get away with it.
We are very quick on the law for shop lifters and ungrateful "redundant workers", not so quick when billions go missing or planning laws are broken. These people are citizens of this state and they are entitled to protest in their place of work without the jack boot being put on them by the likes of you. You can disagree with them, but use violence and jail them then you are into a different moral game.
Lots of workers are being let go with statutary redundancy of 2 weeks per year - or less. This company are offering 5 weeks per year of service which is very generous indeed. The high street travel agency business has been dead for years because everyone now books on the internet. How this company kept the business going for so long is a miracle in itself. These people need to get real and go home and stop wasting everyones time.
