I think it is because Fianna Fáil can use her as a sort of scapegoat and keep her there so they don't have to do the job!
She supports privatisation so the only conflict of interest what to have for dinner!

That pretty much describes Fianna Fail policy towards junior members of a coalition government. Groin Party take note....
Can I just say that the fact people voted for Mary Harney 2007 says more about the current state of affairs than anything else.
Is there a possibility there Mary Harney knows re the skelton of FF as FF were afraid to sack her?? If so, she may reveal the extent of exposure as regards to FF (pure Gombeen party).

Mary Harney is a corrupt, political nobody. Her links to private health care and her delay regarding the second terminal at Dublin airport when her best friend Ulick McEvaddy was trying to build it as a privatised terminal. Ulick McEvaddy thinks the golden circle are patriots, Harney probably thinks the same.
Harney was the one who orchestrated an interview in the IT immediately before CJH was to be tried, and managed to keep him out of jail. If she wanted Health, FF were more than willing to let her take it as a reward!
I'm sure that in twenty years (remember, she thinks people have short memories) when she's retired from her non executive directorships of the likes of Beacon Healthcare some one will write a book listing her crimes against the Irish people.
Indeed. Extraordinarily, this does not get much media attention. Certainly not in the Irish Times, where the editor is an ex-PD TD.
Unfortunately she is not a political nobody, much and all as I would like that to be true. She exemplifies the very worst of Irish crony capitalism and I would like the next Minister for Health, assuming we get a change of government, to forensically examine every major decision taken by Harney in her time in that office.
