The decline in the numbers of Christian Brothers and male teachers in general and the increasingly litigious nature of our society has had a big effect on the amount of sport offered after school hours.
The fact that kids used to walk/bike to school a lot more and had a lot more freedom to roam in the past meant that they tended to get more exercise casually as well.

Students must be expected to pass all exams of these athletical disciplines + swimming + gymnastics for getting a leaving cert (like it is in most Eastern European schools)!
    That's not too much!

I think they should have classes on smoking to teach them how to smoke properly, to counteract the POLITICAL CORRECTNESS GONE MAD of the ANTI-SMOKING BRIGADE.

That is SO typical of the left!

They just want to throw cigarettes at every problem.

I'm happy smiffy is joining this discussion.
Smiffy is still frustrated and regrets that he skipped all his PE lessons because that made him what he is now!
    What a vicious circle!

Oh, I didn't skip the classes. I just didn't show up for the exams. I didn't see the point, given that (as you so helpfully informed us) 'almost everybody gets an A'.

Question smiffy: Are you at least able to bend your knees?
