    Dodgy Advertising?

Fairly accurate excerpt from a currently running radio ad:

Caller: So I can call 11890 for less?
Joy : Yes! Calls to 11890 from landlines are 24% cheaper!

    From the websites:

    11890 rates:

    1st Minute Inclusive
    71 cent including VAT

    11850 rates:

    €0.72c Set-up charge per call

All prices shown include VAT @ 21%

It depends with whom they are comparing their prices. Compared to 11811 they appear to be 19% cheaper.

compared to calls to the same number from mobile phones?
That's complete nonsense. I disagree with you.

The ASAI only acts if someone complains. One (sensible) complaint is generally enough to trigger an investigation.

I'm pretty sure that's where it comes from.
However the ad gives the impression that it's 24% cheaper than everyone else which it patently isn't.

    11890 Free For February

For the genius who thinks thats it only 72 cent a minute from Conduit then I suggest you go and read their rates again. Its now 76 cent setp up charge and then 20 cent per minute so a full minute is 96 cent which makes 11890 dirt cheap compared to the other one. And I've just read on sbpost.ie thats its going to be free from eircom landlines for feb 2007. Now tell me who's doing the dodgy advertising.
