Dempsey dismisses Kenny plan for marine minister

The Minister for the Marine, Noel Dempsey, has accused Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny of "playing to an audience" over his pre-election proposal to restore a full marine minister to cabinet if returned to government.

Mr Dempsey has also said he supports a more transparent European system of fisheries control, whereby "all information" is pooled by member states, which would replace the current system of national control. - Irish Times

Does Noel Demspey not remeber the outrage there was when the Marine Deparment was lumped together with Communications (still trying to work out what in God's name they have in common that made Bertie make such a move) and the name Marine removed from the Department's title - the fishing community were extremely upset and forced Berite to restore Marine back into the title of the Department and appoint a specified Junior Minister for the Marine.
The promise of a full Marine Department will not do FG and Enda any harm in the fishing community of Ireland.

I agree with enda on this.........can anything said by Dempsey really be taken other tabk with a pinch of Salt?...........

A proper 'LEADER' figure who hasnt (it seems ) lost the bottle to make real decisions would have relieved Dempsey of his duties long since....

Isn't there a constitutional limit on the number of ministers?

I think we've reached it at 15, but no limit of their Juniors. Nice idea Enda, would it include inland waterways?
