Bogus CVs sent out by British Government in attempt to expose racism

Whitehall officials sent out hundreds of bogus job applications using false names as part of an undercover effort to expose racism in the workplace.

A total of 1,000 CVs were sent to employers to test whether candidates with ethnic minority names were treated differently to those with traditional British names.
It followed suggestions that people with Asian or African sounding surnames are less likely to be offered an interview than those with similar qualifications who appeared to come from "Anglo Saxon" backgrounds.

Are you thinking of a similar study carried out here by the ESRI? Racism rife as Irish twice as likely to be given job - National News, Frontpage - Independent.ie

That said, based on those findings it bothers me a little that my own Irish name (not Wendy) is having no such effect on hirers.

Governments are doing far too much and they are borrowing billions to do it. This is the kind of thing they should not do. Nothing should be put in the way of firms who want to employ people. If a firm turns away good people based on their name then they will pay for their foolishness in the marketplace.

My psychic powers were never very strong.

You'd almost think that flooding a country with endless cheap labour, telling the indigenous population they'd better "celebrate" the "enrichment" or get castigated as a "racist" - and then bankrupting the state - might actually create ethnic tensions or something?

But then, I've no idea how much common sense you have/don't have Catalpa, so I'm not sure you would agree.

Such PC bull by the leftwing elites. Expect the same from Labour if they come to power here. It epitomises the Left's obsession with presenting minorities as victims in the hope they will then vote for them.

my brother spent many years in The U.K dureing which he picked up overtones of the local accent like many Irish people before him ,not a crime in itself surely. When he retured home and rang employers to respond to advertisments he got nowhere ,the accent was against him.

Importing minorities - in ever greater numbers - and projecting onto them an entitlement/victimhood culture, has been demonstrated by the now-bankrupt, banana republic of California, to be one of the most destructive follies imaginable.
