    Extending the age of retirement

When are they going to get around to tell us that we have to work until 70?
There is not even enough money to pay pensions now never mind when the current demographic bubble bursts.

Read an article once which suggested that the presence of the welfare system cuckolds the traditional family driving up taxes, disincentivising reproduction which causes welfare states to always end in bankruptcy.

The much vaunted Swedish success at raising their birthrate while maintaining their welfare state is largely an illusion. The birthrate for ethnic Swedes is still around 1.2 and as immigrants assimilate their birthrate collapses too.

The same will happen to Ireland unless we dismantle our welfare state pronto.

We need a system like the one in Chile for pensions if we are to have any at all. The current one is a joke and a crime. Forcing young people under threat of legal recrimination to pay into a system they will never see a cent from.
Liquidate labour, liquidate stocks, liquidate the farmers, liquidate real estate.

It is a compulsary defined contribution system where an individual pays into a pension plan of his choice and can modify his of hers working life according to his or hers taste. There is a minimum state gaurenteed pension for those such as the self employed who fall through the cracks.

Well I agree on the pensions anyway, I have PS pension and am sick of being told it is "rolls royce" and the best around. Its a complete con, it is written in back and white that I will get less out that I actually pay in, by a large amount. Only a financial wizard in Ireland could tell you this is a good deal. A savings account would be a better deal.

And many are far far worse. Pensions are the greatest scam going, all should be state run and very conservative in my opinion.

People will be forced to worker longers in the private sector because many have no pensions at all.
