Sickening.
Yemen is an incredibly backward and dangerous place. A German acquaintance of mine traveled there a few times many years ago. If you want to travel across the country, you need a guide, and be prepared to pay a significant "fee" to bandits for safe passage. What these people were doing, I cannot understand. Shocking though.

Badly advised to go where they went, but some other parts of Yemen are quite interesting - at least by Saudi Arabian peninsula standards.
The chap I knew, fancied himself as a bit of an explorer, and the interesting thing about Yemen, was that the way of life, particularly in remote areas, hadn't changed much in centuries. It certainly made for an interesting slide show, when he got home. I don't know what this German family was doing though.
