    So who could lead FF?

Could someone like Mary Hanafin and some serious blood letting at the top turn it around for FF or is an election the only way forward now?

Slow and steady with Cowan at the helm seems to be the thinking on the way forward...Not sure many would want his job right about now.

There is probably some talent there, probably. But the whole history of them being too long in power with relatively poor talent will be their undoing.

I was thinking there of who would be the replacement and I cannot see anyone with the necessary cojones to do it, male or female. Lots of females have cojones (poetic licence) but I am blank on that one too.

I don't think more of the last 12 months is a runner at this stage, either FF reinvent government or someone else will have to. If someone wants to be taoiseach now is probably their only chance to get their picture on the wall so someone might go for it.
The greens have to demonstrate real change now in the ways things are being done or they are finished.
Could Cowen stay but revamp his team?

Step forward, Joe Duffy. Your party needs you!

I think it needs to be a new face. Experience isn't a huge plus (they are up against Kenny after all) and in fact if they have been associated with the mess of the last few years, it's a negative. They need to be from Dublin or environs and they need o be able to communicate well.

I think Dempsey meets most of those criteria.
The Mahon Tribunal found Olivia Mitchell to have received an inappropriate payment from Frank Dunlop at the time of the 1992 Election. F.G. Gael has taken no action against her.
