I see tonight that Michael Howard claimed £17,000 for 'gardening expenses' on a second home. Question is: has precisely the same thing not been happening in this country for decades? In fact, I suspect this kind of scam has been practised so openly by our TDs (from all parties) for so long that we now just take it for granted.
While we now know the amount claimed, as publicised, it is not itemised at all.
I suspect a bit of non statutory massaging of expenses has and is going on as we speak.
I hope they are watching the UK scenario. It might be interesting to see if the level of expenses published next year is reduced due to frightened rabbits watching the real world across the pond.

I see that one MP claimed for a floating duck house for her pond, should Fianna Failures book now for their next Ard Fheis it should hold them and perhaps the devils in skirts could line dance for them....
