    Church Assets as Compensation Poll

I would like to post a poll in order to find out whether there is support for the seizure of church assets.

I have checked the FAQ and the faq indicates that polls may be posted. I suspect however that the ability to do so may be linked to how long you've been a member of politics.ie (which is understandable as otherwise you'd have marketeers here all the time!). I don't see the option available to me.

Could someone who agrees with the idea of such a poll check whether they have the ability to post a poll? My wording would be:

Do you believe it is just to seize church assets in order to pay compensation to victims of its Officers & Institutions?

But I accept that a senior member of politics.ie might want to adjust the wording which is fine by me as long as the subject is addressed...

    Thanks all

Isn't there enough threads on this already without adding another ?

No. This is proposing a poll which might help to reduce the proliferating number of threads around the issue.

Just how many threads do we need which say how nasty the catholic church is and how everyone who puts their hand up to say they were abused should get lots of money.

This poll is facile. It will never result in anything, except maybe positive feedback for the OP.

I don't know whether it is good etiquette for me to send this thread as a link directly to the mods via the 'contact us' button- do you think I should?

It would be intersting to see how many more than three vote in these things to work out how many Lurkers there are who won't put there toe in the water

Well, I would vote no as indeed would the majority of voters. The church is becoming more robust everyday as evidenced by the increase in number attending mass. Paradoxically, this scandal will make the modern day church stronger.

What happened in the past occurred because Ireland was poor and people did not look after their own children, leaving it in the hands of others who were ill equipped themselves.

I do not want to pay for the sins of the past. People must get on with their lives and there should be no compensation.
