Alive, irritating, and further to the right economically than just about anybody. Bar possibly Pinochet.

    But.

There is a serious point in that the guy is obviously razor-sharp intelligent, articulate, ruthless when he has to be, decisive, has a coherent vision and philosophy (even if many of us find that vision rather distasteful) and is focused on getting things done, with a track record of real delivery.

All qualities that both Bertie and Enda lack. McDowell claims to be all these things but isn't. Rabbitte is just a self-promoting windbag.

We need more capable decisive go-getters with a Plan, in all parties.
Gerry Adams has those qualities, except in a progressive left wing setting.
    Does he really?

Tell us another thing. Does Gerry's sh*t smell? I'm sure you must know, given how far you have your nose wedged up his rectum.

Please factual, Gerry and Mary Lou have none of the charisma and wit and fluency that O'Leary has.

I think he would add significant impetus to the Irsh scene, regards the economic freedom yes he is very far to right but he couldn't be expected to dismantle the current apparatus overnight.

He could confine himself to promising increased efficiencies & redeploy the State workers - i.e. not real cuts.

Bound with some one from the economic mid-left - e.g. Harney he could to drop trousers at a UN General Assembly in the event of world peace would be funny

I'm not McDowell biggest fan but i think it has to be admitted that he is a very intelligent guy who is also articlate. I often also read how "ruthless" he is. This much has to be admitted whether you're with him or against him.
