Report on Child Sexual Abuse - One More From The Commissioned Reports Gravy Train

"The €60m report follows almost 10 years of work by the commission, which dealt with complaints from former residents of predominantly Catholic institutions dating back to 1936."

After all the rira and ruaile buaile has died down let us reflect and ask who has benefitted from the production of this report?

the abused? - no weren't they all excluded from the press launch?

us (society)? - no we already knew and for all that's being said it could happen again at any time if the will was there to make it happen and to ignore it

the abusers? - no most are dead and probably in hell if such exists along hopefully with those who protected them

the politicians - yes it's taken the focus off the economy for the time being until some other diversion can be created

the creaters of the report? - yes - the real beneficiaries of this sham I propose - they and the lawyers and senior counsels - it is these and their ilk that control our society and will increasinly do so as we grow more regulated (eg the anti-blasphemy proposal should be a nice little earner)

    1. ahem, I was at the launch - and I ain't a member of the Press - also I was present with at least four other 'former residents' as you call them.
    2. Not all the abusers are dead .... unless you have information on Br. O'Hanlon or Fr. Barry, Fr. Raftice, Br. Mooney ... ??? oooops I've just mentioned names!!!! If you report me then more money will be spent in prosecuting me!
    3. I think you'll find that this Commission started long long before the present problems with the economy surfaced.
    4. The main creators of the report were actually the abusing Religious Orders and their criminal activities.

Maybe that will be answered when someone writes a history of the Religious Orders, particularly a history of the Christian Brothers, and their influence in Ireland.
