As a member of Fianna Fáil I would show respect to Enda Kenny, Eamon Gilmore or Joe Higgins if they and their parties where occupying Government Building as elected by the people of Ireland.

As it stands, Fianna Fáil along the Green party have the support of the Dáil and remain the legitimate Governent of Ireland.

People should be mindful of this.

It's okay to criticize and argue against what they are doing but its disgusting to see people showing utter hatred and disrespect towards the ruling parties.

If you want to act like that go and emigrate to some country where this is accepted practice.
When a government is newly elected it is deserving of respect simply for bring the choice of the electorate but, if, after time has passed, they prove to be bad at the practice of governing then it would be both stupid and self defeating to respect them any longer. It's 'up against the wall' time, I say. We should never respect either stupidity or corruption and for those who argue that the financial problems are world wide i can oly say, yes, that's correct but when things were going well the government never told us 'it's not us, it's a world wide thing' so bugger the lot of them but the problem is that those waiting in the wings are just as bad!!!

    VoteFF,
Do you remember Mary O Rourke accusing Enda Kenny of being a tratior because he was critical of Bertie Ahern when he was out of the country ?
Do you remember Bertie Ahern accusing a member of the opposition of being " only an old waffler "

That's probably because a lot of people are extremely angry at Fianna Fail and want to see them destroyed as a political force.

Respect is earned NOT given. This government has not earned any respect.

I have respect for the various different offices of state in this country, however, I have absolutely no respect for the current incumbents of government offices. They are a crowd of useless, cowardly, corrupt, incompetent, and self-prervation-cover-their-various-ample-ar$es merchants.

Their followers are demonstrable either corrupt or thick and are a walking argument for introducing some kind of intelligence test before someone is allowed to vote.

For the good of the country; they have to be destroyed.

What is it that FFers have against free speech? First the blasphemous libel idiocy and now this.

Well, I hate to break it to you, but you do seem to be rather unaware...the present government has done an extremely bad job.

I still think you're somebody logging on to get reaction. Most Fianna Fail followers are hanging their heads in shame...not ranting at people for criticizing the government. Who are you really? A reporter?

This is a silly thread and I think you knew that and the kind of reaction you would get. Basically, you're telling us not to "talk down the government"!

This follows several months of "don't talk down the ecomomy".

Brian Cowen was on TV last night complaining that nobody saw the economic collapse coming. So, he's now saying that nobody talked down the economy enough!

..and you wonder why nobody has respect for this government.

Do you not currently respect them as Oireachtas members elected by the people of Ireland (Joe Higgins aside)?
