    My Heart Bleeds...

Their at it again. The smell of an increase in feul and the Taxi men are off.

I have much more concern for the manufacturing and Haulage industries than these illusive B*****ds.

If it was 3.30am on O'Connell street they wouldnt be as visible.

It would be nice to see someone finally finish the job Harney started, by making the taxi industry a criminal-free zone and making it an offence to block the public highway with vehicles by way of making a protest.

    Why is that?
Don't taxi drivers have a similarly high exposure to fuel costs as haulage, and even more exposure than general manufacturing?

Or are you proposing that we ignore looking at the actual cost base and set policy based on how little we like taxi drivers?

Incidentally, what do you think will happen to the problem of hard-to-find taxis if they are denied a fare increase? Do you think it will stay the same, improve or get worse as taxi drivers and would-be taxi drivers face higher costs without corresponding fare increases?

We'd just get Noo York style taxis driven by immigrants who don't speak the language or know their way around.
No harm there. It might be a race to the bottom service standards wise, but to be honest, having been ferried to work by the Monk in recent weeks, standards are pretty damn low anyway.
We need to clean up the industry first, and prevent them from holding towns for ransom by blockading city centres every time they don't get their demands.
Then we can worry about the numbers in the trade and the cost of fares. However, with the numberof immigrants with driving licences in the country, there would be no shortage of people prepared to drive for a living.

Speaking of the monk, evidently it costs a grand to rent his stretch hummer for an hour.
