A call for an investigation is NOT proof of anything other than a call for an investigation.

It's only a matter of time. This wrotten edifice will eventually crumble, and the corruption and sweetheart deals arranged by Sean Fitz, Joe Burke and other pillars of society will be exposed

Sean Fitzpatrick was on both the board of the docklands authority and chairman of Anglo Irish bank who loaned money for the glass bottle site purchase.

An investigation found no conflict of interest.

However the docklands authority itself is accused of conflicting interest by being both developer and planning authority in the area.
Is there any other democratic country in the world where the above would be allowed happen?

And I hope that we'll have some proper trials when the other crowd get in and not just endless tribunals.

The other question of course is, given the value of the land has declined 60% and presumedly cost a couple of hundred million, is this now a toxic asset and if so, aren't we the taxpayer going to have to pick up the tab through the nationalisation of Anglo and/or NAMA?

The same old story, deals done behind closed doors, friends of FF involved, they all walk away happy and pocket several million. Meanwhile the taxpayer is left to cope with the hundreds of millions of debt. Great country, if you are a FFer.

In this story, the DDA were acting as regulator and player in the market. Just how anyone could think that was regulation is beyond me, but this was a time when Bertie Ahern was Taoiseach so I suppose we shouldn't be surprised.

No. Except for the ones with politicians and business men.

(but our lot are remarkable because cronyism is the only thing that they excel at)

The conflict of interests continues as well, the New head of the DDA, is the wife of a Minister, who did nothing to combat white collar crime or corruption in politics, whilst his own party were the massive recipient of donations from the same bankers and developers. No wonder he never pulled the plug on Bertie, he probably admired his neck. Niamh Brennan, has a record of nice junkets in the public service, especially health, you could not make it up, how do these people sleep at night.
