DAA: small plastic bag to cost 1€

Airport to charge for security bags - The Irish Times - Tue, May 05, 2009

DAA, that champion of rip-off and mismanagement, is now going to charge a euro per bag for those clear plastic bags you need to bring liquid onto the airplane. Those bags can't cost more than 5 cent to produce.

But fear not, ebay is selling lots of 50 security bags for under 4 euro. Thats 8 cent each or 92% cheaper than the DAA price.

    Proper Order

How many YEARS have the rules been in place?

How incapable are Joe and Josephine Gobsheen at getting their act in order?

Be prepared Gimps or be prepared to pay.

Just another way to p*ss people off with minor inconveniences.

In the grander scheme of things it's a trivial development, but further evidence that the era of cheap flying is truly over.

I grab a handful every time I go through - was expecting this from DAA so decided I'd get in there before they did charge - am all set for the next couple of years. Anyone think there's a market in selling ziplok bags with "Louis Vuitton" or "DG" stickers on?

Speaking of airport ripoffs, Ryanair charges 50 cents per passenger in 'wheelchair levies', clearing over a million euro per year. Most of which is pocketed instead of going to pay for any wheelchairs!

You'll be charged even if you don't use one!
    Now THATS a ripoff.

Take Cavoks advice - if flying Ryanair, bring your own wheelchair. Get your moneys worth.

It's more like a fine for not bringing your own rather than a tax. If it ends up costing you a Euro for a bag worth 5c you're more likely to remember to bring a bag the next time.

If the DAA can get more of their money from things like this then it means I'll have to pay less so I support them.

Well, I don't use a wheelchair. Nor do I use Ryanair - but if I did, that would make me a 'gimp.'
    Fair enough.

Your racist and child murdering proclivities are already clear from your comments on that Laos thread.
You seem to have a lot of hatred for your fellow man.

I hope I never bump into you after you've had a skinful.
