FG to park tanks on Green Party's lawn

Fine Gael will this afternoon publish an ambitious new energy policy document which makes a number of recommendations about the use of green energy sources. The Energy for the Future plan proposes that the majority of buses and other vehicles operated by the State should be converted to run on biofuels within five years. - The Irish Times

Is the "future" government trying to out-green the Greens? If so, will the Greens be able to establish themselves as a viable coalition partner in 14 months?

Quite possibly. Or alternatively, maybe many in FG actually believe that this is a good policy, worth implementing.

The majority cannot therefore be the elite.

Bit of a chicken and an egg situation, since FGs chances of power without the Greens are slim.
Certainly a positive move but I'll believe it when I see it. And no I don't see FG et al. being able to steal the Greens position. Mainly because they all tried that back in the early 90s after the big shocker of the
loony Greens keeping their Dáil presence and winning two MEP seats. Then every other party in the country was scrambling to add in as much Green provisions in their manifestos as they could to cover their asses in future. Hasn't stopped the growth of the GP though. I don't think that anyone, like them or loathe them, would deny that the Green Party is much stronger and more organised than it was back then.
The fact is that no matter how much of the Green stuff they add, the Greens can always point out that they had this stuff in their manifestos for two decades. What was it Wilde said, "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery"

Whatever the case here's the Green Party's energy policy so you can compare and contrast with whatever FG come out with.

The Greens have opted out of the Rainbow pact so far so its fair game for Fine gael or labour to go after their policies if you ask me

Their conference passed a motion opting out of the Rainbow to the best of my knowledge.
