Male, 34, Self-employed, retail sector. Salary €35,000. Perks; Free lunch! Receive plenty of free samples from suppliers - mostly from the wine wholesalers.

Arts Degree and nine years management experience in the pub/restaurant and retail sectors before I went out on my own, after being made redundant last year.

I work 6 days a week, but sometimes come in for an hour or two on the seventh day. I work from 9:00 to 19:30hrs.

    I'm enjoying life immensely.

I was genunely only interested in seeing what Private sector wages were like. They should be higher all things considered. Extend the school year if you like -if it floats your boat, but everyone is paid for holidays in some shape or form. Sorry about that! Can i pay mortgage by giving the bank manager August? I could do a better job I reckon!

Simply showing you know what loing division is (left of centre) does not change that fact. I would have no hassle working longer weeks but you still have to pay me-pesky laws and all that! And then perhaps you might try to give me normal conditions like you have.ie Can we remove non performers teachers and pupils for good???!

Anyway-people are still chraging 2008 prices-dry cleaning a pair of trousers 10 euro? Doctor 70 fecking euro?!! Dont talk to me about car servicing. Private sector is a driver of high costs too as is public the other way. We are all connected. Once costs come down a bit more-you can cut my salary again-oh feck forgot the mortgage-yes its down but for how long?!

I have 5 people working under me and I earn 60k no perks or bonuses. At the moment we are busier than ever, but its all based on orders from 2008.
the likelihood is that I'll have to look for an new job come December unless our order books fill up sharpish. Other than that I love my job.
Just an update for those intersted, just after posting this two of my people were let go. I was informed 5 minutes before it happened and that more are to come. Also there will be a 15% pay cut for the remaining staff, beginning next month.

anyone know of any jobs for a slightly used engineer?
