    RUC Attack People of Roslea

Attendees at an Easter Commemoration in County Fermanagh were assaulted by the RUC whilst leaving the event. The commemoration, which had been organised by the Republican Movement, was held in Roslea on Easter Monday.

A spokesman for Republican Sinn Féin explained that whilst those in attendance were leaving, many were threatened and some physically assaulted by the RUC. The ringleader was RUC Sergeant Gareth Boyle (Number 2316).

“This followed a massive operation by British Crown Forces both before and during the commemoration. Martin McGuinness, who spoke in Roslea on Easter Sunday, and Seán Lynch from Fermanagh claimed that they would go into the RUC to 'put manners' on these people. Clearly they have failed.”

    ENDS
"I hereby declare that the Continuity Executive and the Continuity Army Council are the lawful Executive and Army Council respectively of the Irish Republican Army, and that the governmental authority, delegated in the Proclamation of 1938, now resides in the Continuity Army Council, and its lawful successors."

    Comdt. General Thomas Maguire

Is there some corroboration of this event or is it the usual Indymedia type of report?
Dan Sullivan. I was back but we still couldn't all have a vote.

Pretty much, also known as a "Risteard-O-Gram". As a rule just think of the direct opposite of what he claims and you won't be far from the truth of the matter.

Risteard seems not to have noticed that the RUC no longer exists. Perhaps his claim about trouble at Roslea is similarly made up.

Sounds like a good catholic boy and we should be delighted to be threatened or assaulted by good catholic ruc, sorry, Setanta, I forgot, their name was changed to PSNI. (like windscale/sellafield, long kesh/the maze, good old british tradition of changing names only). Let's change 'recession' into 'boom ' and we'll stop worrying about our financial futures, that's how little name changes really mean.

no , the RUC were incorprated into the renamed British police that had to be renamed due to the RUCs dreadful reputation as a British police force in Ireland whose primary job was to enforce British rule at the point of a gun. Some years for now theyll probably change the psnis name also for the same reason . I dont need a tardis to predict that either .

But possibly you need one to go back to a time when the rhetorical arguments you've chosen to share with us still had meaning?

The war, such as it was, is long over and if you can't see that the overwhelming majority of people in all the communities of northern ireland have expressed a wish to move away from the old cycle of hate and violence, then I don't see how you can achieve your aim of a united ireland, since all you seem to be offering both sides is more conflict. And nobody with an ounce of sense wants that.

If I am wrong then tell me that you're not advocating a return to conflict, that you believe that peace is the way to a reunited ireland and that regardless of how you feel about past wrongs that you're against the death of human beings regardless of their creed.
