Neither are really. The senior Gardai tolerate him and prefer him to other crime corrs because he is an idiot who never writes anything critical about the gardai and never does any investigating that could cause him harm(nightmare scenario for the cops is another journalist dying) but the frontline cops dont respect him in the way they respect other crime corss because they dont belive his motives are pure or that he actually knows anything, and if you are a detective on the frontline bluffers like him are not to be respected
