Civil Partnership Bill Delay Criticised by Labour

Press releases » Media centre » The Labour Party

Seems yesterday was the day promised for the release of the Civil Partnership Bill and the Government have shown that their promises were based more on opposing Labour's Bill rather than any serious desire to legislate.

You keep chasing that rainbow Patrick. Your namesake would be proud

Stop saying "homosexual lobby". There is no such lobby. Just the greatest evil mankind have ever faced, the Labour party.

Sorry to disappoint you, but the heads of the bill have been published. It is a large bill so any delay is simply because of the fact that it is so large, as anyone who has read the heads of the bill can testify.

The bill will be introduced either in the Summer or Autumn sessions of the Dáil. With the support, as it has of Fine Gael (who were the first party to adopt a policy supporting the introduction of civil partnerships), Labour, Sinn Féin (who support full gay marriage), most independents, and in government both Fianna Fáil and the Greens, the enactment of the Bill is certain. BTW your own ex-party, the Progressive Democrats, also supported the bill.

The bill will be law by early next year, and depending on when it is introduced, may even be law by Christmas.

But then, given that successive polls commissioned by everyone, including the Catholic Church, show 80%+ support for civil partnership, and support for full marriage at over 60%, civil partnership is coming along very soon, and gay marriage will be on the statute books within 5 years.

You will show us those obvious links from reputable non-biased peer reviewed academic journals?

Oh and instead of fop you could have used dandy, beau, popinjay or coxcomb. You don't have to use it in every single piece you write you know. It's beginning to remind me of FutureTaoiseach and his elites.

Numerous studies show that homophobes are often themselves people who are gay and externalise self-hatred by directing it at other gay people.

Going by his posts, the odds are that 'Patrick Bateman' is himself gay and so freaked out by the fact that he simply expresses to other the hatred he feels towards himself over what he realises deep down is his orientation.

Ironically he's probably the most likeliest of individuals to hang around in gay saunas, cruise, and engage in rather extreme sex acts, as an expression of this self hatred, and comes on here to condemn it in a vain act to distance himself from his behaviour. Come out of the closet Paddy, it's really not healthy for you to be living this seedy underground life.

The last I heard about this bill was that the Dept. Of Finance were lobbying hard against it on cost grounds. I heard figures quoted that it would cost €2 billion per year.

I'm not sure if this is correct. Perhaps, someone from the homosexual lobby will have more accurate figures.

If it is of this magnitude, I would rather that the money was spent on innoculating children against cancer and teaching special needs children.

By the way, the personal abuse been thrown at Mr. Bateman is nothing but schoolyard bullying and those engaging in it should be ashamed.

We have more things to worry about than legitimising this disgusting practise between two men. THe economy is imploding and why should they get a tax break?
