Nothing will motivate the lazy / apathetic / Americanised / west-British types to embrace their culture and the Irish language.

They believe that there's a money tree in every private business in Ireland. They don't, haven't clue the country is broke. The less this government gets the better, the quicker people will realise that the nanny state is an illusion.

A champion of the people emerges with the age-old and appealing promise of "something for nothing" - to be financed through every-increasing taxes. Supply and demand are thrown out of gear - the overhead goes up; the effective use of human energy goes down; the standard of living is lowered because money cannot buy wealth that is not produced.

That also needs to be restricted or limited to the most productive as opposed to those who most need it.
The problem with the civil service is not that the staff are lazy, incompetent morons who are allowed to come and go as they please and use the internet all day and abuse the system - but that their unionised managers allow SOME of them to do so.

Can be take it that all the public servants who post here are on their lunch and in internet cafes?

Every public servant who uses a PC should be told that it is strictly for work purposes only and that using the internet for any other purpose will lead to a dismissal hearing. That would reduce numbers quicker and cheaper than a retirement package.
If the banks are out for a bail,
and Lenny's efforts end up as a fail,
    when the Somer does come,
    to the Country they'll run,
And leave a Fine mess for the Gael.

Endinf the one Party (FF) state:

Conor you really must be mentally challenged??? However that would be an insult to the mentally challenged. They do have a level of intelligence to figure the real aspects of business and the economy

Judging by the tone of your postings, you wouldn't even get through the interview process to join the Public Service !!
