I believe it highly irresponsible of FG to keep offering us this failure as a leader. It was a time of national crisis at the last general election and Kenny failed the people.

If he becomes taoiseach it will be by default through the voters turning from FF, they certainly don't warm to Kenny.

There is an election needed alright : for leader of Fine Gael.

Seen as you are a ff lackie use the web to look some of those words that may be hard to understand
And while you are it look up the meaning of ethical, responsible, moral, corrupt, inept, incompetent and gobsh**e.

I believe the latter is now in the dictionary with reference to ff ministers and party representatives.

Ehrrr ... do you have trouble reading ?

Above I was clearly saying that Enda failed to take out Bertie at the last election, never went for the jugular on the Tribunal, instead giving him the benefit of the doubt (thus the floaters were more inclined to give Bertie the benefit of the doubt)

Enda has failed & FG need to face up to that - 29% approval rating is abysmal.

why is Enda as Taoiseach so hard for people to imagine/stomach?
The proof of the pudding is in the eating, we'll never know if we continue to let the current shower keep going and sure he can hardly be worse :P

And for the record I have never been polled on government satisfaction etc. and dont know anyone who has. How accurate are they?

Previous to last election run up the opposition had gone after bertie regarding his "little bank accounts issues" and they were pilloried by the great understanding and forgiving Irish public in opinion polls.
Hell bertie appeared to get a bounce since the poor pet had cried, thanks to softsoap interview by muppet dobson, and it involved his poor kids.

They were affectively afraid to touch the guy since they were then seen as the bad guys causing poor bertie to cry.
Of course this is Ireland where the chancer is always favoured over the one that stands for honesty, law and order.
FF and their mouthpices in the press have done great job of hammering away that Kenny is inept, boring, wooden etc etc and can't be trusted to run the country.
Maybe he comes across as wooden and boring on TV buit i woudl rather someone honest and hardworking than the spanners we have who of course can sink a pint and sing a tune.
We are selecting a nation's leader not who we would like to go drinking with FFS. We have inherited this sh*** from America where style wins over substance and it is another Pop Idol contest.
FG are selling Kenny as a chariman and not an absolute leader ala Clowen, I think it can work since he does have some capable spokespersons including Bruton, Reilly and Hayes.

Apologies if you are not ff member/supporter, otherwise absolutely not and may the fleas of a thousand camels infest your jocks

I'm sick of Kenny's calls for a general election.. what does he think he achieves by coming out with this anarchic rubbish? Politicians came out with this kind of thing in the 1960's/70's...do Kenny's West Wingers think rubbish statements like that reassure them after the average worker will be losing a months wages per annum from May? The voters expect more nowadays than this simplistic nonsense.

Predicition; There will be no GE until 2012. This government ain't going no where. Handy majority in the Dail bye elections or not. After the bluster of the locals in June, the opposition have 3 lonely years for a GE. I feel Kenny is only trying to hold on for as long as he can.

People fell for the Dig Out rubbish hook, line and sinker. Remember how Ahern and FF's ratings shot up in the polls afterwards. And yes - well done to Dobson for giving the little weasel a platform for his lies instead of asking a few probing questions.

I don't know about a general election and I don't know about Enda Kenny. But I really want Brian Cowen to go - he has been a part of the problem and he needs to move on and let somebody else be part of the solution. I've had enough of him - is there a petition I can sign or something I can do. Likewise I think Brendan Drumm has had a fair run of it and has failed - he needs to go also. We can't carry these people any more. I admire Dermot Mannion - at least he knows when it was time to go.

Challenge? Where is his head? In a schoolyard?

Anyone here know when the last time a budget "was put to the people" for a vote?

1982 and 1986, both under John Bruton.

And the lesson we learned in 1986 is the important one - put the Country ahead of narrow political interests if you want the Country to recover.

If Fine Gael and Labour want an Election, then they need to put forward an agreed strategy for how we are going to get out of this mess.

At the moment we have Fine Gael saying we should slash and burn, and Labour saying that would be a beastly thing to do.

What are we going to get from a FG/Lab Government?

That is the question I want answered!

FG/Labour need to come together and get people on the streets. They need to explain exactly what they will do.
