Time to Kick Out the Euro

::: We Want Our Currency Back

I think that the Euro has been a disaster for Ireland: the buying power has dropped alarmingly, and while good for exports, its not good for us trying to live at home in Ireland.

Our inflation is artificially low: real life tells a different story. In 1990, a bedsit was €35.00 (IR£25.00).

That same apartment is now €130.00 a week.

Wages was €381.00 (IR£300.00), WAGES ARE THE SAME TODAY!

    All thaks to the Euro...

Really? How so? I assume you mean the change in currency led to inflation. In that case changing back would also lead to inflation..
Ireland interests are best secured within a more dynamic EU. Vote YES to Lisbon.

    Euro and inflation

Its not the change caused inflation: its the weakness of the euro. The pound was stronger, more stable.

Like the saying: it wasnt the shagging got the girl preggers: it was the burst johnny!

Sorry if thats a crude analogy!

Yes I must concur , the weather has been awfully chilly and inclement of late. It is certainly time to fix this and ditch the euro, don't our politcians stand for anything ?

I didn't know we ever had our own currency. Did the CIRA army council start issuing "legal" tender???

Hang on. Are you saying that wages haven't risen since 1990?

Leaving the Euro is unfeasible. It would mean returning to 10% interest rates that we had before we joined the Euro, with devastating consequences for the economy.

    Ordinary workers

As an ordinary worker, my wages were €380.

They still are today, though Im in a different industry.

That year should have read 1998. Im sorry for the error.
