2002 Salaries for TDs, why not?

Reading in the Irish Times today, Cowan states that we are enjoying a 2009 standard-of-living funded by 2002/2003 incomes. Will Mr Cowen and fellow TDs now set an example of the belt-tightening he wishes all Irish people to undertake by reverting to 2002/2003 TD salaries? If not, why not?

Fine, reduce public servants pay to 2004 levels. Reduce social welfare rates to 2006 levels. Then reducing politicians pay to 2002 would be useful.

Its only fair that they should take a pay drop. Will be interesting to see if anything happens with regard to this. There is no good reason why TDs are on such high wages in these recessionary times.

They are the ones who have to lead by example. They are the ones at the wheel.

Of course it should happen but that would require a certain level of honesty from FF. Hmmm, Do I see pigs flying overhead?
