Take the tricolour down from the mast

Clearly the Irish Republic does not see the 'orange' tradition as belonging to Ireland, given that those of this tradition are effectively banned from parading in the capital city.

Therefore a new national flag should be designed without the orange.

I was compiling a list of faults with this post, but once I got to eleven, I realised just how unbelievably stupid it is.

The fact that you would appear unable to articulate a single one of these faults is hardly impressive, is it :

I believe we should remove the Orange because plainly the
Orangemen don't want anything to do with it.

And we should remove the Green because so many in the south don't feel nationalist.

The appropriate flag for the 26 Counties is therefore a plain white flag.

Pogo, did you know that the national colour of Ireland was once blue. The introduction of Orange into the colour made up (as most school kids know) the colour Green.

So, if you ask me, the Orangies have too much clout on the national flag.

The original tricolour was in actual fact orange, white and green (i.e. orange next to the pole). The order of the colours was later reversed.

    A few quick points:

    (1) The march was clearly provocative - otherwise why start at the Garden of Rememberance? why march down O'Connell Street, through the North Inner City & past the GPO? why march past the site of deaths during the Dublin bombings? why march into the centres of political power in the state? Willy Frazer's idea of marching again - during the most sensitive time he can think of - a visit by the Queen of England - confirms this.

    (2) McDowell was stupid if he believed that the march would not have provoked a violent reaction - especially along that rout. Some rioting was probably inevitible.

    (3) Having said that, the march should have been ignored & allowed to proceed.

I wasn't aware that the Queen of England was in Dublin at the time.

The march is no more provocative than hundreds of Republican marches that take place within the United Kingdom.

For example Sean Kelly, the Shankill bomber, is a frequent participant in Republican demonstrations in Belfast, yet no-one attempts to stop such demonstrations taking place.

Why should Republicans be allowed to hold marches in Birmingham, (and they do hold such marches), where the pub bombing took place, and loyalists not in Dublin, particularly when those of a Republican persuasion wish to tell loyalists Dublin is their capital.

Although, no doubt, you would do everything in your power to convince youself otherwise, it would appear that the British government and population are more tolerant of Republicans than the Irish people and government are to loyalists, despite the fact Republicans claim loyalists as their fellow citizens.
