"Ireland a 'Soft Touch' for massage parlours" Naughten

So I see that Fine Gael's immigration spokesperson has come out to say that the massage industry needs to be regulated because of abuse by sex traffickers and the ilk.

“The failure by the Department of Health to implement the 2005 recommendations of its own working group (Report of the National Working Group on the Regulation of Complementary Therapists to the Minister for Health & Children –Dec 2005) on the regulation of the legitimate massage therapy industry, is providing a legitimate cover for many brothels to operate and exploit vulnerable migrant women."
Mr Naughten claimed many of these brothels were using the "guise of complementary therapy to promote their business and openly advertise some of their services".

Perosnally I've never experienced this despite having frequented several LEGITIMATE massage parlours.

Every one sees what you appear to be, few really know what you are, and those few dare not oppose themselves to the opinion of the many, who have the majesty of the state to defend them.

For a minute there, I thought Stephen Ireland was in a bit of bother again.

How exactly does one regulate this?

"Right, stop, that's as low as you can go. Next!"

If you want a prostitute, it can be easily arranged. They get away with the legal crap by saying something like "anything that happens between 2 consenting adults is none of our business".

You could badly regulate it by banning sex during work hours. Or while working as an escort, masseur or stripper.

Here again a major problem with a FG spokesperson raising an issue without having done their homework

    IT
The lack of regulation of the legitimate massage industry is being exploited by "criminal elements" in order to provide cover for brothels trafficking women into Ireland, Fine Gael's immigration spokesman Denis Naughten has claimed.

Mr Naughten claimed many of these brothels were using the "guise of complementary therapy to promote their business and openly advertise some of their services".
    1) How many prostitutes are flying under the false flag of massage parlours ?
An quick perusal of Google reveals this site with 500+ Irish Escorts. Searches for massage parlours return poor pickings.

    2) How many prostitutes, working in massage parlours are trafficked ?
I can't answer this from Google, but given that he was wrong to be banging on about "massage parlours": it is certainly up to him to give us some hard figures

This press release is typical of the low calibre of FG these days, lots of vague generalised improvements demanded but very little reseacrg actually done.

Why ban it? Like you posted "anything that happens between 2 consenting adults is none of our business"..
