    Eamon Gilmore and Graceland

Our Labour party leader was in Graceland last year. This morning he is on FM4 radio with Gareth Ó Callahan. He chose Elvis's Presley's hit, "Suspicious Minds". Well why wouldn't he!

    Suspicious minds prevail these days.

I'm suspicious of people who describe Elvis's Graceland as a Shrine!!!

So he is even more intelligent than I had realised

The King is very popular with the Labour hierarchy by the looks of things - Pat Rabbitte was on Dunphy's radio show a year ago and chose 'In the Ghetto'. Two cracking tunes it has to be said.

But then again, the cynical side of me thinks that maybe it was just an attempt to cast the net wide - just like every American pres for the past few decades has declared that westerns are their favourite genre. At least In the Ghetto has a political angle to it.

And at least its a bit more credible than Bertie Ahern's favourite, 'How much is the doggy in the window?'

    Bertie's other favourites were:

"A whiter shade of pale" - Procol Harem
"You raise me up" - Westlife version (of course)

His highly predictable choices of books was:

    "Sean Lemass - A life"
    "A history of Dublin GAA"

He wasn't asked his favourite movie, but clearly it would have been 'The Shawshank Redemption" and his favourite poem would have been something by Yeats that he hasn't read since his Inter Cert but which he knows people will have heard of.

Does Bertie know 'Who owns that doggie in the limo?'

From The Irish Times. "For immediate release: Tánaiste launches search for Ireland's best Elvis" it read, followed by details of the inaugural Bundoran Elvis Festival and Pokerfest, which will be held in the town from October 31st to November 2nd." Again this year too.

Eamon Gilmore is not listed as an "Important" visitor to Graceland.

Graceland staff are just so ill-informed! They did not not even notice our Rock journalist, Joe Jackson........and me !!!

Noooooo!!!!!!! I'll never listen too it again without hearing hearing Bert dueting out of key.

Well the ironic thing is that the song is a real end of an era/morning after a party song and suits him. He presided over one big long hallucinogenic national trip where everything was not what it seemed and people behaved irrationally, and now we're in a very nasty comedown where we feel like complete sh!t. What a bast@rd.

The previous Prime Minister of Japan also visited Graceland so we hope to see many more Irish politicians take the magic tour.

They really should get themselves on this list if they are to succeed in Politics! Facts about Elvis - Elvis Presley's life - Elvis news
