€3,000 hike for TDs as workers' pay is cut

A LARGE group of TDs will get a €3,000 pay rise in eight weeks time -- just as ordinary workers are getting used to tax hikes in the emergency Budget.

They care, but you the voter, are stupid. You will put in FG and Labour instead of cleaning out all 166.

I agree with you. That is the problem. The same people are put up for election and they get elected. Nothing would make me happier than been able to vote: "None of the above"

You can, if you are a voter that is. There are always independents on the ballot paper who have never before set foot in the Dáil.

Yes and it will be interesting to see if Finian McGrath or Noel Grealish will reject to the pay rise coming to them.

Why shove they? It is an increment payment on completion of seven years service. If you have proposals on reform of increment payments across the public service - let's hear them?

the politicians can mewl all they want.

this WONT go ahead without bloodshed on the streets. NO ONE in the public sector alone will stand for it, let alone the private one.

case of bad timing TBH but you cant implement "the toughest budget in decades" and give yourself a back hander.

thats the simple reality of the situation. now that its broke in the media there'll be a bit pissing and moaning but in the end this'll be scrapped.

"It's such a paltry sum", said Gareth Ó Callaghan talking to Eamon Gilmore on FM4 RADIO,this morning.
