Cowen & Co are MAD if they let this go through.

Kenny needs to ensure his own lot forgo it

    - or will it be another case of FF Lite?

Labour should do the same too.

as for the Greens see 'Cowen' above....

case of bad timing TBH but you cant implement "the toughest budget in decades" and give yourself a back hander.

thats the simple reality of the situation. now that its broke in the media there'll be a bit pissing and moaning but in the end this'll be scrapped.
This was a cynical exercise by the Indo to call this a "salary bonus". As pointed out this is an increment not a bonus or salary increase (or a back hander as you say). It is not something that has just been brought in. Its just the same as going up on a salary scale just like all the public service workers do. I'm afraid if you shout for the TDs not to get their increment then its a slippery slope down to all the increments due to public service workers also being stopped.

This creates great inequality because co-workers (whether a TD or other public service worker) will already have received the increment but those who now reach the same level of service will not get it.

It is fair to point out that since SF TDs (and indeed all reps) take home only the average industrial wage (AIW) if the AIW falls then SF TDs will experience a pay cut, and not the pay rise of 3000.

SF reps deserve credit for this.

It's not that slippery a slope. Some need increments more than others, namely those on the lower levels of public service pay. There's nothing absurd or illogical in calling for an increment freeze for the higher earners while allowing increments for lower earners to go ahead.

No. It is a basic income.

Increments should not be paid based solely on length of service. That is readily understood by all in the public service who point out that this is not the case since they must qualify for the increment payment. As most do. Based on length of service. Why cannot a TDs increment be based on number of votes. Speaking time or attendance? Why is a similar objective standard not fixed as appropiate for ALJ public sector jobs? No TD should give this up unless it is across the board in the public service.

I think it is time to call in the IMF, I hate to admit defeat but this is the only route left now to sort out the Public Service, we are a joke and laugh across the world, and lets rise from the ashes of this sorry mess..I dont have faith in any of the political parties anymore to fix the problem. Had they got advice from decent successful business people who knew about taking companies from a negative to a positive situation would have been a better use of our money.. Economist?. Solicitors??
