Willie O'Dea might be sued by Sinn Féin Councillor

    From the Limerick Leader
Quinlivan says he may sue O'Dea over 'brothel' comment - Limerick Leader

Sinn Féin's Maurice Quinlivan had criticised Willie O'Dea over staffing and other matters.

    The minister responded ...

"They are running a big campaign. The money from the Northern Bank must be stretching fairly far. Quote me on that. While occasionally we send out letters to planning applicants on the wrong paper, we have never been involved with anyone who shot anybody, or robbed banks, or kidnapped people. I suppose I'm going a bit too far when I say this but I'd like to ask Mr Quinlivan is the brothel still closed?"

Minister O'Dea was referring to a recent case where three Brazilian women were discovered by gardai to be running a brothel from a Clancy Strand apartment owned by Mr Quinlivan's brother, and former Brixton Prison escapee, Nessan.
Quinlivan says he will sue. That would be another local legal action for Willie, just a day after the last one was settled ....

odea is a crtein for coming put witha comment like that, hope the shinners sued ajd win,. but they wont because while tyhe evidence is on their side they wont want a discussion of how they are funded in open court, wont want to be cross examined that sort of thing

I love the we never 'robbed banks' part.

What FF have robbed this country of over the years in terms of cost of tribunals and tax evasion of themselves and their friends not to mention the cost of their corruption to the country, it must run into the hundreds of billions as this stage.

FF's robbery makes the Northern Bank Robbery look like pittance.

If it is libelous, the paper can be sued for publishing it and the website can be sued for printing it...

That Sinn Féin guy could be on the gravy train...

According to the quoted report, O'Dea said that it was Mr Quinlivan, and not his brother, who was running the brothel.

Maybe it was made clearer elsewhere in the article.

That could indeed be a defence if it ever does go to court.

I think FF in their early days were not averse to liberating monies from the clutches of the free staters, no?

Two things, Quinlivan isn't a councillor. SF. has no elected representatives in Limerick.

Secondly, I think this is fair comment. Quinlivan's brother was an IRA man who was freed under the Belfast Agreement and a SF TD has gone on the public record calling armed robbery as "fund raising".

Sue away I say, the only one who's reputation will be damaged is Quinlivan.

The Mahon Tribunal found Olivia Mitchell to have received an inappropriate payment from Frank Dunlop at the time of the 1992 Election. F.G. Gael has taken no action against her.
